A 14-year-old girl from Matano Mane in Ganze, may not join Form One despite scoring 378 marks.

Fauzia Bahati got a place at Limuru Girls High School but her poverty-stricken parents are unable to facilitate her school fees.

She has been forced to move from office to office seeking help which has not yielded any fruits.

Bahati said her mother does odd jobs like washing clothes for neighbours.

“I have been unable to report to school because my parents do not have money,” she said.

Bahati is the third born and her siblings dropped out of school due to poverty.

Her greatest fear is that she may also drop out of school or report to school late which will be difficult to catch up.

Bahati's dream of becoming a lawyer is slowly fading as she does not see any help coming her way soon.

“I pray that I will get assistance to proceed with my studies,” she said.

Bahati said she applied for scholarships but never got a chance.

Elizabeth Lavuna a good Samaritan said she got a call from the area chief who informed her about Bahati who had excelled and wanted help to get to Kilifi to seek help.

“We have moved from office to office looking for help since morning but we have not got any,” she said.

Lavuna said the girl was really in need of help.

To her, she was going around with her hoping that she could get someone to assist her because she has tried her luck in vain.

She also appealed to the government to intervene and enable the girl to proceed to high school as she was bright.
