Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has warned President William Ruto against harassing the former First Lady Mama Ngina and former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In a walk down memory lane, Kalonzo said former political leaders have had respect for the Kenyattas and previous presidents.

Kalonzo said Mzee Jaramogi Oginga Odinga fought for the release of first President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta from the Kapenguria detention.

He said the late retired President Daniel Moi also had respect for the Kenyattas.

"Ingawaje kulikuwa na siasa, Moi hakudhulumu jamii ya Kenyatta (Although there were political differences, Moi never harassed the Kenyatta family)," he said.

Kalonzo further said the late retired President Mwai Kibaki showed respect for his predecessor Moi.

"I remember Kibaki instructing former Minister of Transport Chris Murugaru and then Minister of Land to give a land title deed to Moi as a show of respect."

Kalonzo regretted that Ruto was after Mama Ngina over tax on inherited property, something he termed as "death tax".

"Hii ni kodi ya kifo. Yaani unataka kutoa ushuru watu wamekufa? (This is a death tax. You want to levy on the dead)," he posed.

The Azimio co-principal said there was a reason why the early legislators did away with taxation on inherited land.

He wondered why the current regime was harassing Uhuru to a point of scaling down his security.

The former vice president dismissed reports that the former President had over 100 police officers in his security detail.

"That is a lie. We are watching."

In a direct message to Uhuru, Kalonzo said he should handpick his security.

"Namwambia Uhuru chukua watu wako. Huwezi kuletewa driver hujui ni wa aina gani (I'm telling Uhuru, pick your security. You can't have them bring you a stranger for a driver)," he said.

"We must respect our leaders, whatever happens,"Kalonzo added.
