Police in Kisii have destroyed tens of thousands of illicit brew a surprise dawn raid at a Chang'aa factory at Kionganyo area in Bobaracho Ward, Nyaribari Chache.

Four suspects were arrested; the proprietors - a man and his wife - and two staff members at the plant.

County Police Commander Charles Kases led a team of senior officers from Kisii Central Police Station during the crackdown.

Kese told journalists that they acted on a tip-off from residents. .

"We came here following a tip off from an informer who told us of this illegal brewery. During the crackdown, we have managed to arrest the owner and other people who had been working for them," Kases said.

The suspects will be arraigned on Monday.

The County Police boss promised further crackdowns in future in the effort to fight illegal brews in the region.
