Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome has confirmed that there has been no changes to First Lady Mama Ngina's security detail.

The IG said the National Police Service continues to ensure that the former First Ladies including Mama Ngina, are safe and secure.

Koome rubbished claims that the former First Lady's guards had been recalled, saying he will not be dragged into 'political talk.'

“The former first lady has security, we protect her premises, and not just her alone. We provide security because we respect those offices,” Koome told the media on Friday.

There have been claims that Mama Ngina's security had been affected amid social media claims that she had been abandoned by her recalled guards in Mombasa.

On Friday, Koome said she respects elders who have served the country and will ensure they are safe and secure 'while enjoying their retirement”.

“The former first lady has security, that is the position, let us not speculate,” Koome said.

Mama Ngina is the wife of the founding President Jomo Kenyatta who died in office in 1978.
