EALA MP Suleiman Shahbal has been elected Chairman of the Communication, Trade and Investment Committee.
Announcing his new post in a statement on Twitter on Monday, Shahbal, thanked his fellow MPs at the East African Legislation Assembly for electing him.
"I am honoured and delighted to be elected Chairman of the Communication, Trade, and Investment Committee in EALA," he said.
He added:
"I take this opportunity to sincerely thank my fellow EALA MPs from Kenya and the entire region for their support and confidence to have me lead this crucial committee."
Shahbal further said his chairing the committee was an honour for Kenya, and an opportunity to spearhead the process of strengthening regional relationships, improving trade ties, and exploring investment opportunities.
"Once again, Asanteni sana!" Shahbal said.
