Gachagua meets Fair-Trade Africa over tea sector reforms

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Wednesday held talks with Fair-Trade Africa over tea sector reforms.

In a statement, Gachagua said the tea sector reforms is key to success.

"I have held consultations with the leadership of Fair-Trade Africa at Harambee House Annex. We discussed various structural interventions towards maximum benefits to tea farmers," he said.

On January 16, Gachagua held consultations with the Kenya Tea Development Agency board. 

The board meeting led by chairman David Ichoho and group MD and CEO Wilson Muthaura aimed at improving earnings for small-scale farmers.

Gachagua said they agreed on ensuring small-scale tea farmers reap more benefits.
