Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has claimed that noises from clubs and clubs are therapeutic.

Speaking on Monday, he said the noise helps Kenyans to relieve a lot after a busy day at work.

Addressing Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja's recent ban on clubs in estates, the Senator claimed that without the noise, Kenyans will soon go mad.

“Soon Kenyans will go gaga… Now tell me if all clubs in Nairobi have been stopped from playing music, where do you reckon people to release their stress?’ Ledama posed.

“At work, your boss stresses you, you go home your spouse stresses you. Haiya Sakaja , watu watachizi! Kelele ni dawa ( People will go mad, noise is medicine),” he added.

The Senator’s remarks came after Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka asked  Governor  Sakaja to go slow in his pursuit to regulate noise pollution in the city.

Speaking during the Azimio rally at Kamukunji grounds, Kalonzo said the regulation of churches and nightclubs should be done through consultation.

"The Bible says come and praise the name of God. How come now those who used to say they were supporting churches are now talking about environmental pollution?" Kalonzo posed.

"So my friend, go slow," he said.

On November 25, 20233 City Hall canceled licences for nightclubs operating in residential areas following numerous complaints from residents.

On December 1, Sakaja said he would not shut down noisy churches in the city's residential areas but would hold talks with them on observation of laws and regulations.

"I will not close the churches. We want them to spread the gospel by obeying rules and regulations. I will initiate talks with them because we must be reasonable and accommodate each other in the city," he said.
