Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei now claims that Azimio leader Raila Odinga's planned rallies are blackmail for a forced handshake with President William Ruto.

In a statement on Monday, the senator said the alleged forced handshake will not happen.

"Tinga waited until development goodies had been taken to Nyanza then he now starts to incite leaders against the government," he said.

"This is blackmail for a forced handshake which shall not happen. Police must deal ruthlessly with any looters of wananchi property during Kamukunji rally today."

This comes after a planned rally by Raila on Monday, in Kamukunji, where he has promised to drop a bombshell, on the August 2022 presidential election.

He will jet into the country from Pretoria South Africa and then head straight to Kamukunji where the opposition will gather for the rally.

The opposition chief has been in South Africa on a week-long tour in his capacity as the African Union's Special Envoy on Infrastructure.

"We are on for the rally," Makadara MP George Aladwa, who is also the chairman of ODM in Nairobi, told the Star.

"It is going to be the mother of all rallies, watch this space."

Raila has convened the rally to allegedly give his supporters a 'way forward' following a dossier that opposition leaders say detailed how the opposition leader was cheated of his victory.

Ruto said he will not allow the peace and tranquillity of the country to be disrupted by a few individuals who are chasing personal interests.

The President warned that such rallies would disrupt the peace of the country and vowed that he will not let the country be held hostage by some people.
