Kenya Kwanza unveils its first Budget Policy Statement which sets out the priority programs, policies and reforms of the Administration that will be implemented.

In the proposal, Ruto's administration seeks to scale up revenue collection efforts by KRA to Sh3 trillion in the 2023-24 financial year as part of the economic turnaround plan.

Gachagua meets Kericho MCAs

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will on Thursday meet Kericho MCAs in a bid to resolve House leadership wrangles.

16 MCAs were blocked from travelling to the United Arab Emirates for a 10-day trip to Dubai.

The meeting comes just a few days after President William Ruto publicly reprimanded the MCAs over leadership wrangles that have threatened to derail development in the county.

Earthquake anniversary 

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi will be having a press conference as he marks one year since his ‘earthquake’ event at Bomas where he announced that he had teamed up with President William Ruto ahead of 2022 polls.

Teaching of coding

Kenyatta University to have a media conference at which the KU Vice-Chancellor Prof.

Paul Wainaina and Kodris Africa CEO  Mugumo Munene will make a major announcement on retooling teachers in an effort to enhance the teaching of coding and computational thinking in Kenyan primary and secondary schools 

Venezuelan murder trial 

High court to deliver judgment in the murder trial of the late Venezuelan envoy Olga Fonsesca.

The acting Venezuelan envoy to Kenya was found dead in July 2012 at her official residence in Nairobi, with police saying she was murdered by strangulation.

Dwight Sagaray, who was the Venezuelan embassy’s first secretary, was among the first suspects to be arraigned over Olga’s death.

He was charged alongside Ahmed Omindo, Alex Sifuna Wanyonyi, Moses Kiprotich Kalya and Kipng'eno Kirui Chelogoi.

Another suspect, Mohamed Ahmed Hassan, was never captured and the trial went on in his absence.

Former Juja MP murder case

Judgement in the murder case of former Juja MP George Thuo to be delivered on Thursday.

Thuo died after suspected poisoning on November 17, 2013, and six people were charged with his murder 

Digitization of services

The government is exploring ways of digitizing payments for small traders in remote areas.

New Zealand PM Adern to step down 

Jacinda Ardern has announced she will quit as New Zealand prime minister next month, saying she no longer has "enough in the tank" to lead.

She will step down as Labour Party leader no later than 7 February. There will be a vote in the coming days to determine her replacement.
