A Nigerian national died after a fight broke out during a party at Ruaka, Kiambu county.

Police said preliminary findings had shown the men differed over a woman and cash.

This led to violent confrontation past midnight on Friday.

It was then that the deceased was apparently pushed out of the room’s balcony to the first floor of the structure.

He is said to have fallen from the sixth floor of the apartment and landed headfirst on the balcony of the first floor.

After the death, five of those who were present and said to have been involved in the fight were arrested and produced in court for murder.

The deceased was identified as Yinka Adisiyan aged 35.

According to police and witnesses, the group of foreigners had converged at a house of one of their friends at Moon Apartment for a party.

The Nigerians are said to be businessmen on a business trip in the country.

While at the apartment, they differed over a woman and some cash, witnesses told police. But police say they are investigating further on the motive behind the incident.

Kiambu head of DCI Richard Mwaura said police were called to the scene and found the body of the deceased in a pool of blood.

It was then that the officers arrested five Nigerian men who were present for further grilling.

Mwaura said they informed the Nigerian embassy in Nairobi of the incident.

The men were detained in custody over the weekend after initial appearance in court.

Police were granted 14 days to detain the suspect up to January 27 when the case will be mentioned.

“We have not gotten the main reasons they were fighting but we understand there was a party there, which led to a fight and the fatal fall,” Mwaura said.

The body was moved to Kihara Hospital mortuary pending autopsy and further probe.

Police revisited the scene over the weekend for further investigation into the same.

Witnesses said the officers from the crime scene collected samples from the house.

There are dozens of Nigerians who live in the area. Some of them are on business trips while others are students.

Police also conducted an operation in the area seeking to know the motive and mission of the foreigners. Dozens were detained in the weekend operation.
