The European Union has lauded Kenyans for the manner they conducted themselves during and after the August 9, 2022, general elections.

EU ambassador to Kenya Henriette Geiger further hailed the IEBC for "upholding transparency and integrity" while overseeing the polls.

"Kenyan citizens deserve 10 out of 10 for their stellar performance in elections,"he said.

"I want to thank Kenyans for their commitment to peace, which is the way forward to an advanced democracy."

Geiger was speaking at Safari Park Hotel on Monday during the launch of IEBC's post-election evaluation report for the August 9, 2022 poll.

The ambassador urged IEBC to build on the achievements of the last election to give Kenyans an even better poll in 2027.

"The EU will support and stand firmly by IEBC," she added.

Geiger further congratulated IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati and commissioners Boya Molu and Abdi Guliye for "an outstanding job done."

"You did a great service to Kenyans. You are the first ones to complete the full constitutional term of six years," she said.
