President William Ruto on Friday spent the night within the Lakeside city before continuing with his two-day tour of the region.
The President accompanied by his deputy Rigathi Gachagua on Saturday morning went to Kisumu Port to familiarize himself with the activities there.
At the Port, the President also inspected ongoing activities at the Kenya Shipyard.
Already the renovation of the MV Uhuru I linkspan is at an advanced stage.
It is an important installation that allows for the loading/unloading of wagons.

From the Port, the President flew to Siaya county where he is set to preside over the commissioning of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) Blue Economy Research Hub.
He is also expected in the Rarieda constituency, Asembo where ICT CS Eliud Owalo is hosting leaders for the thanksgiving ceremony.
On Friday President Ruto met leaders from the region at the StateLodge
He first had a separate meeting with leaders from Migori county led by Governor Ochillo Ayacko then later met leaders from Kisumu led by Governor Anyang Nyong’o.
At the Kisumu port inspection, he was accompanied by governor Anyang Nyong’o.
