The National Police Service is appealing to the public to share any information that may lead to the arrest of five al-Shabaab terror suspects linked to the latest spate of attacks in Lamu County.

Up to 10 people have been killed in the attacks in Lamu this year alone amid fears there are more planned such incidents.

The latest incident happened on the Bura-Garissa road where four road engineers were killed on Wednesday, January 11, after their vehicle ran over an Improvised Explosive Device.

Sentencing of EX-KRA employee

A Nairobi court will on Friday sentence a former senior KRA employee who was convicted for obtaining over Sh7.8 million falsely.

The employee was pretending his law firm was authorised to collect taxes.

Milimani senior principal magistrate Bernard Ochoi on Tuesday ruled the accused Peter Muhu Muriuki did not dispute the allegations that he was a KRA officer and that he misled Scripture Mission East Africa by stating that his law firm was entitled to collect taxes.

M23 rebels agree to withdraw from DRC's North Kivu

Main rebel group M-23 agreed to withdraw fighters from the DRC’s North Kivu province and follow a strict cease-fire.

This emerged after a meeting between the M-23 rebel leaders and former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta in Mombasa.

Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of Elvis, dies aged 54

Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of rock'n'roll legend Elvis, has died aged 54, her mother has said.

"It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us," Priscilla Presley said.

Lisa Marie, also a singer, was rushed to hospital earlier on Thursday. Media reports say she had cardiac arrest.

She was found unresponsive at her home in Calabasas, California, sources told US outlet TMZ.

Czechs go to the polls over the next two days to elect a successor to President Milos Zeman, whose second term ends in March.

Seven men and one woman are in the race to succeed him, and a second-round run-off is likely in a fortnight's time.

The president is now elected by public vote and it has become part personality contest, part endurance race.

The three front-runners include an ex-Nato general, an economist and a billionaire former prime minister.

Black Lives Matter founder's cousin dies after police arrest

A cousin of Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors died hours after he was repeatedly Tasered and restrained in the street by Los Angeles police.

Keenan Anderson, 31, a teacher and father, died at a hospital in Santa Monica.

Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) have released body camera footage of the 3 January encounter.

It shows Mr Anderson begging for help as officers hold him down.

Senior officials spared blame in report

A long-awaited report into last October's deadly crowd crush in Seoul has largely spared senior government officials from blame.

The report instead held local municipal and emergency service officials responsible for weak planning and a poor emergency response.
