Kiambu governor Kimani Wamatangi has defended row with MCAs saying that was a teething problem that a new administration faces.

Speaking on Thursday, Wamatangi said that a governor can't fail to give bursaries.

"Those are teething problems within a new administration. On the accusation that I have refused to give bursaries, a governor cannot fail to give bursaries because it is prescribed in law and they have to be dispensed equally," he said.

The governor said bursaries will be dispensed to those deserving and in a transparent way.

Wamatangi said the row with MCAs was a learning experience to ensure the county becomes lawful.

On Tuesday, Wamatangi held a crisis meeting with MCAs  to end the row.

The governor and the ward representatives have been at loggerheads for days with the bone of contention being the management of the Ward Fund.

The meeting comes after Monday's saga pitting Wamatangi and the county assembly over the ward fund among other issues.

The MCAs claimed that bursary committees were being formed at the ward level without their knowledge or involvement.

The ward representatives further accused the governor of belittling them and not honouring their invitation to discuss the welfare of Kiambu county.

The governor has been facing a serious revolt from a section of MCAs since he was sworn into office.

The legislators at one point rejected half of his Cabinet nominees.
