Uganda President Yoweri Museveni's son, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba now says that his remarks on taking over Nairobi in two weeks were a joke.
According to Muhoozi, most people saw the joke in his words but others took it seriously.
He said regardless of the two ways his remarks were understood by different quotas, the truth will always win.
"Three months ago, I made a 'joke' about taking over Nairobi in two weeks. Now any Tom, Dick or Harry immediately saw it for what it was...'a joke'. But unfortunately for some, it was not. Either way, the truth shall win! The East African Federation shall be realised," he said on Thursday.
In October last year, Muhoozi claimed that it would take him, and his army less than two weeks to take control of Nairobi.
In a series of tweets, Muhoozi made the statement in what many believed to be an apparent show of strength he and his army possess.
"It wouldn't take us, my army and me, two weeks to capture Nairobi," he tweeted.
At the time, he served as the commander of the land forces of the Uganda People's Defence Force.
Kenyans who weighed into his remarks perceived them as demeaning even as others dared him to make good his threat.
In his earlier tweet that preceded the threat, Muhoozi made statements that appeared to cast aspersion on the Kenyan democracy.
The scion laughed off Kenya's constitutional provision of presidential term limits insinuating that that does not work for Uganda.
"Haha! I love my Kenyan relatives. Constitution? Rule of law? You must be joking! For us, there is only the Revolution and you will soon learn about it!" he said.
Following his explosive tweets, he was promoted to General by Museveni who defended him saying that he loves his country and is a good soldier.
The Ugandan President said all the good things Muhoozi has done shouldn't be disregarded because of one mistake.
