President William Ruto has said that Cabinet meetings will henceforth be paperless.
Speaking during a session of the Cabinet retreat at the Fairmont Mt Kenya Safari Club in Nyeri, he said the Cabinet, going forward would be run on the digital space.
"From the next Cabinet meeting our Secretary to the Cabinet Mercy Wanjau has assured us our meetings are going to be paperless. We are going to run cabinet on the basis of the digital space," Ruto said.
The President during his address insisted that the government must employ technology to become more efficient.
He added that it is time Kenyans get value for the resources they put at the disposal of their leaders.
Ruto said the digital space will ease communication between one government department to another.
"It will be expected of government in every department that we leverage on technology to make government much more efficient.
"Sending a letter takes longer than sending an email. The email arrives instantly. The letter tells us we have to get a messenger, a motorbike and a receptionist and all manner of bureaucracy," he said.
The Cabinet retreat began on January 5.
