Royal Media Services has released a statement regarding alleged food poisoning of their staff.
Managing Director Wachira Waruru confirmed the death of one staff member saying the company is saddened by the unfortunate turn of events.
"We are deeply shocked and saddened to inform the public that one staff member has unfortunately succumbed to the illness attributed to the suspected food poisoning," he said.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of our deceased staff member during this difficult time."
"In keeping with holiday period working arrangements, the RMS engaged a private food catering company to provide meals for staff working during the Christmas shift," he said.
The MD said on Monday, December 26, some of the staff members complained of severe stomach pains after consuming meals served within the premises of the company.
He added that several staffers have also been hospitalised for the suspected poisoning.
"We are providing all the necessary support to the affected staff and suspected food poisoning incident is currently under investigation," he said.
A Senior reporter is among those admitted to the hospital.
Many of those who took the meals complained of stomach upset.
"I took the meal on Christmas Day and I experienced a stomachache. Mine was not severe," an employee who sought anonymity told the Star.
