The Head of State was responding to a request by Bii to help in building a market that all traders can operate in.

"The issue of the market, we will build a new one, and it will be bigger so that you don't keep fighting over the space for the smaller one," President Ruto said.

He also noted that the Lands and Public Works Cabinet Secretary Zachary Mwangi has already been directed to visit the town and plan with the county on how the new market will be built.

"You can't fight over a small market and I'm here," the Head of State said.

Earlier, Governor Bii had noted that over 4,000 traders have been fighting over the market, causing regular push and pull between them and the enforcement officers.

He said building a multi-complex market that will also have parking would be the solution to the challenge.

"The market that we have has only 900 stalls. If it pleases you, kindly help us get a market with three or four floors and parking so that we don't keep fighting," the Governor asked the President.

During the thanksgiving service, a host of leaders attended among them Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga and his Elgeyo Marakwet counterpart Wisley Rotich, Senator Jackson Mandago, MPs Julius Ruto (Kesses), David Kiplagat (Soy), Prof Phyllis Bartoo (Moiben), Janet Rotich (Turbo), Samuel Chepkonga(Ainabkoi) and Woman Rep Gladys Boss Shollei among other dignitaries.
