Former Information and ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru has disclosed that life as a cabinet member is quite complicated and difficult to balance with personal relationships.
Mucheru, in an interview with Citizen TV, said being a CS limits one from pursuing many personal goals adding that exiting the government has given him a sigh of relief of sorts to chase after lots of private issues.
"Simu za kazi zimepungua. Zamani nikiwa waziri simu zingekuwa mingi sana. Urafiki sio kitu unapata haraka, ni kwa muda,"he said.
Loosely translates to: "The phone calls have reduced. In the past when I was a CS, I would be called more often. Friendship is not something you build fast, it comes over time," he said.
He further said the task of a CS makes it even harder for one to maintain a relationship since one is so engaged that he has no time to pay attention to such.
"Ukiwa waziri hata girlfriend ni ngumu kwa sababu unaitwa upande huu na ule. Mtu anafikiri humuheshimu,"
Loosely translates into: "when you are a CS it is even difficult to maintain a relationship because you are being called here and there. Someone might think you don't respect her".
Mucheru revealed that he is now at peace after leaving the government since the pressure to deliver on many agendas of the government is off his shoulders.
