3,000 litres of Busaa was destroyed in a crackdown that was done by assistant chiefs, police officers and chiefs in the Munyali area, Musikoma ward, Kanduyi Constituency Bungoma County.

Addressing the press on Friday after the crackdown, Alice Wekesa condemned the incident calling on the locals to report those who prepare illegal liquor in villages attributing it to the rise of early teenage pregnancies.

She said that after destroying the illicit brew all the materials used to prepare the brew were burnt to ashes adding that the operation will still go on.

“If we continue behaving this way then we may end up destroying the future of many young school-going girls,” she said.

She said that those who attacked the chief they will be traced and apprehended adding that his (chief) motorbike was also destroyed.

She said that Busaa is prepared in a dirty environment saying that it is a threat to human life affirming that the operation will still go on to ensure that the illicit brew is ended.

“We can’t sit back and watch our young girls be destroyed by drunkard men who come here to take Busaa,” she noted.

 She added that the move aims to support President William Ruto’s move to fight illicit brew in the community.

“Our President has declared a free Busaa and Chang’aa country and we are his people on the ground to ensure that what he says is implemented and followed on the ground,” she noted.

She warned locals against taking illicit brew in an unhygienic area arguing that it was a threat to their lives.

"Even if we are enjoying this festive season, please let us be careful with what we eat," she said.
