Ex-Kisii governor Ongwae, Muthama among eight shortlisted to be member of PSC

171 hopefuls submitted their applications to PSC after the position was declared vacant.

Former Kisii governor James Ongwae is among eight candidates shortlisted for the position of a male member of the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC).

The others are United Democratic Party (UDA) party chairman Johnson Muthama, former Kiminini Member of Parliament (MP) Chris Wamalwa, former Aldai MP Cornelly Serem, former Limuru MP Peter Mungai, former Matungu MP David Were, former Kwale County assembly speaker Sammy Nyamawi Ruwa and John Aruma Ekale.

Clerk of the Senate, Jeremiah Nyegenye said interviews will be conducted on December 30, 2022.

He urged members of the public to submit any information of interest concerning the suitability of those shortlisted to the Office of the Clerk of the Senate before Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 5p.m.

"The interviews will be conducted at the Mini Chamber, First Floor, County Hall, Parliament Buildings," he said.

Some 171 hopefuls submitted their applications to PSC after the position was declared vacant.

After the interviews, PSC will recommend the name of a suitable candidate for appointment to the National Assembly and the Senate.
