Police are expected to seek the DPP's opinion before taking action after the death of rally driver Maxine Wahome's boyfriend Asad Khan.

Asad passed away on Sunday. The family confirmed that he died at Avenue Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment.

He has been admitted to the hospital for almost a week. The family had been asking for blood donations.

His brother Adil confirmed the death. His other friends too confirmed Khan had died days after his admission to the hospital.

Court to fix dates for the hearing of Rotich's dams case 

Former Treasury CS Henry Rotich Sh63 billion Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal case will be mentioned today. 

The mention follows the elevation of former trial magistrate Lawrence Mugambi to a High Court judge.

As such, Mugambi last month directed that the matter be allocated to another magistrate.

Rotich had been charged alongside former Treasury Principal Secretaries Kamau Thugge and Susan Koech and some 20 Italians but the DPP amended the charge sheet and excluded the ex-PSs and made them state witnesses.

Rotich was thus charged afresh even though the DPP said no new evidence would be brought against the former minister.

A 78-year-old man sentenced to one year probation

A 78-year-old man accused of killing his 35-year-old neighbour in Kajiado by stabbing him with a knife after a quarrel at a drinking spree has been sentenced to one year probation.

James N’nyuru was convicted by Nyahururu High Court judge Charles Kariuki after he admitted to a lesser charge of manslaughter.

The accused had entered into a plea bargain agreement with the prosecution.

Police arrested for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old in Magarini

A Police officer in Magarini has been arrested for allegedly defiling a minor in Marereni area of Kilifi County.

George Mitikowea Nangoe was arrested by police officers attached to the AHTCPU Mombasa on Sunday night and will be arraigned in a Kilifi court on Monday.

A Police report seen by the Star revealed that the officer will be charged with defilement.

Authorities said there were still 28 sailors stranded in the water on Monday after the HTMAS Sukhotai sank.

No fatalities have been reported, but three crew members are in critical condition.
