Dagoretti North MPBeatrice Elachi has said her troubles at City Hall made her leave Jubilee Party quietly in 2019.

Speaking on Thursday, she said her silent move was to avoid her 'enemies' interfering with the process as she was a targeted person.

"I never told Uhuru I left Jubilee in 2019 and ODM didn't know that I joined them. As a woman, if this was known there are people who would have messed everything," Elachi said.

She said it is important for women to move in silence when they don't know who their friend is.

Referring to what transpired during her tenure as Speaker of the Nairobi county assembly, Elachi said some fights which transpired never had an origin.

"I'm sure Sonko has never understood why he used to fight with people and why he was impeached. I think he even asks himself why we were fighting,"  she said.

Wading into her 2018 impeachment, the legislator said the MCAs had to amend the Standing Orders for the act to happen.

"I was impeached while I was in Malindi. There was nothing that I had done that would have led to my impeachment but I know there was interest," Elachi said.

On September 6, 2019, the assembly voted to impeach Elachi barely a year into office.

103 out of the 122 MCAs voted to kick out the speaker but had to amend the standing orders to shorten the impeachment process.

Elachi said  Nairobi is a county not run by governors but by business people.

The MP said that Nairobi's biggest challenge was having people using money to have their way.

She said the businessmen will start to interfere with the county government when the leaders touch their deals.

"Nairobi county is a very unique and interesting county where it is run externally by business people. When the businessmen feel that you have started curtailing them, they just use a few MCAs and you will find yourself in a situation and ask yourself why are we even fighting,"  Elachi said.
