Besieged IEBC Commissioner Irene Masit was threatened by an unknown caller to resign, the Tribunal hearing allegations against her heard Friday.
Masit told the pre-trial conference through lawyer Donald Kipkorir that she received a call from an unidentified female caller who threatened her and told her to resign by Friday.
Meanwhile, the Tribunal dismissed the commissioner's objections during the status hearing and said each of the four dissenting commissioners will be tried individually.
Masit had sought a non-trial verdict arguing through her lawyer that her trial would be prejudicial since her co-accused have since resigned.
"In view that three commissioners resigned, to proceed as it is may prejudice my client because the documents are joint (and) the evidence is joint," Kipkorir said.
However, tribunal chair Justice Aggrey Muchelule threw out the objection saying each of the commissioners will be tried individually.
"Each took an appointment, it was an individual appointment and individual oath that was taken in regard to the Constitution and it is an individual quest for the removal of the commissioner," Muchelule ruled.
Commissioner Justus was the first to resign last Friday followed by vice-chair Juliana Cherera on Monday while Francis Wanderi threw in the towel on Thursday.
After Friday's status conference, the Tribunal adjourned sittings to resume on December 20 pending the hearing and determination of a case Masit filed to stop her trial.
Meanwhile, Kipkorir expressed confidence that his client will overcome the tribulations facing her.
"It doesn’t matter the time, Commissioner Irene Masit will be vindicated. Justice has no deadline nor expiry time," he said in a tweet.
