Two journalists were on Monday at the receiving end of Azimio principal Martha Karua's rage during a question and answer session that followed the outfit's press statement.

Karua had just finished reading the Azimio statement on their planned 'consultative meeting' on Wednesday at Kamukunji grounds when the scribes sought clarification on a number of issues.

The first reporter sought Azimio leader Raila Odinga's take on the allegations by President William Ruto that he was seeking to use demonstrations to force a handshake with him.

At this point, Raila moved away from the podium during the presser at his Capitol Hill office.

"You surely do not expect our leader to be responding to everybody who says something unfounded. You better go back to that source to give you facts to show that what he is saying is true," Karua said.

Raila had a while before this clarified that the Kamukunji event will not be a demonstration but rather a consultative meeting.

He warned that should any chaos erupt during the function, the Kenya Kwanza administration should take the blame saying they will have certainly planted goons within their midst to orchestrate the violence.

"This regime is trying to paint a horror movie picture of this event. The maandamano they're talking about is theirs, not ours.

"Should they try to plant people to disrupt the event or to take advantage of the meeting to create chaos, the government will have itself to blame," Raila said.

A second reporter wanted to know why the Azimio leadership had ignored the option of moving to court to challenge the government's decisions it disapproves of.

It includes lifting the ban on GMOs which Azimio claims is meant to allow certain multinational companies to make a killing from the sale of seedlings and the removal of IEBC commissioners from the office which they claim is to pave way for the rigging of 2027 polls.

"Since when did the competition become the senior advisor or a cheerleader? Let us be serious and let us do whatever people feel befits them in the position they stand. We reject unsolicited advice," Karua retorted.

The Narc Kenya leader in the joint statement said IEBC vice chair Juliana Cherera and commissioner Justus Nyang'aya had been coerced into resigning amidst an impending tribunal process.

"What we can see is coercion and we can see the end game. The President wants a William Ruto electoral commission, this is what we must resist," Karua said.
