"Morocco cracks its way into the Round of 16 and has done our continent proud. What a thrilling display of football by the Atlas Lions," he said.

"Excellent game, nicely done!"

The Atlas Lions went ahead after just four minutes courtesy of a goalkeeping howler from Milan Borjan.

On Wednesday, he also lauded the Tunisian team despite their missing in the last round.
