Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has purchased a shirt for Sh50,000 from a trader at the launch of Hustlers Fund at Green Park, Nairobi.

Gachagua was called to the podium and asked to purchase a shirt.

"The DP is my friend and this shirt is Sh1,000. However, since I have fuliza, I will give it to him at Sh5,000," one of the sellers said as the crowd laughed.

As DP took a hold of the shirt, the Master of Ceremony said Gachagua would pay Sh50,000 for the shirt.

"The DP has said he will pay Sh50,000 for the shirt," the MC said as DP smiled.

Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria also purchased a shirt and parted with Sh60,000 for it.

Disbursement of the Sh50 billion annual Hustlers' Fund kitty has been set to commence on Thursday.

The funds, which are available to individuals, groups, small enterprises and co-operatives will be offered at a one-digit interest rate of 8 per cent per annum.

Loans from the Hustlers Fund will be accessible through commercial banks, microfinance institutions, and saccos.
