President William Ruto has revealed that thousands of Kenyans tried to access the Hustler Fund before the launch on Wednesday.

The President unveiled the Fund at Green Park, which is aimed at promoting job creation, strengthening the economy and empowering investors both domestically and internationally.

In his address, the head of state said thousands of Kenya are yearning for the fund hence the huge number of Kenyans seeking it.

"Nimeambiwa tayari hapa ya kwamba wakenya 160,000 tayari wamejaribu kutafuta kama hii pesa iko," he said.

This loosely translates to, "I have been told that 16,000 Kenyans already tried to ascertain whether the money s there".

Ruto expressed hope that the Fund will benefit Kenyans.

"Today I am happy that we have fulfilled the promise we gave to Kenyans during the campaign period. I know millions of Kenyans are ready with their phones," he added.

The Sh50 billion kitty can be accessed dial *254# on their mobile phones. 

The loan limit is a minimum of Sh500 and a maximum of Sh50,000.

The second phase which will launch in February 2023 will expand the limit to Sh500,000.

The President said beginning April next year, groups will be able to borrow up to Sh10 million.
