Senior state officers who are slacking in their duties are finding it rough in the new administration. Our snitch intimates that three of them were given a thorough dress down after they arrived ten minutes late to a crucial meeting. We are told they had to endure the humiliation of frantically trying to settle as an eerie silence prevailed. It emerges that murmurs are rife the pace is too fast and demands too high that some might not cope, barely two months in office.

An ambassador of one of the countries participating in the ongoing Fifa World Cup in Qatar early this week cracked the ribs of some state officials. The man, who had paid a courtesy call on a top state official, sarcastically told his hosts to stop lying he was supporting his country in the global tournament. "Stop lying, my team is weak. It can't win this trophy," the man said to the amusement of his hosts. The host had said that he had placed a bet on the ambassador's country team to lift the trophy. True to the diplomat’s word, the team is yet to show its mettle.

A governor appears to be irking residents of his county with what they terme as being ‘too elitist’, citing various directives by his office that seem to hurt common people. The county boss recently banned certain meetings at the heart of the devolved unit, and the backlash that followed saw him do some pensive damage control, including meeting the affected for a photo op. Undeterred, he is at it again, this time banning hawking and selling of fast moving goods in the same area. The residents are now wondering whether the county boss has a burning disdain for common folks or he is just being excessively idealistic.

The man is said to be overdoing his bid with his endless trips to the offices of a big man from his backyard. The fellow is also said to be keen on having his activities in the village, which are linked to the new big man’s docket, captured in strategic mentions in the media. The politician was recently overheard telling a close friend that he has to appear so as busy to raise his stakes as he hunts for a state job.
