Cops search for tractor that caused accident in Eldoret

Six people died in the accident Wednesday night after matatu rammed into private vehicle

Police in Eldoret are looking for a tractor that caused a fatal accident on the Eldoret Southern bypass near Sosiani bridge early Wednesday.

Six people died in the accident including three staff members of the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA).

A vehicle belonging to the KURA collided head-on with a Public Service Vehicle that was heading to Kitale at around 6.30am.

"Preliminary information from eyewitnesses confirm that a tractor loaded with a Sheller emerged suddenly from a feeder road and caused confusion and panic among the two drivers leading to an head –on collision." KURA said in a statement on Thursday. 

"We shall continue to update the public as the police undertake investigations and search for the owner of the tractor which disappeared from the scene." 

Among the dead was the driver and passengers in the Public Service vehicle. 

The authority send a message of condolence to the family and friends of the victims.
