Ruto lands in DRC days after troops arrived for peace mission

President William Ruto is this morning expected to hold talks with his DRC counterpart Felix Tshisekedi.

Ruto who arrived in the country on Sunday night is visiting as part of the ongoing process to bring peace and stability to the central African nation.

The head of state is also expected to hold bilateral talks with the Tshisekedi.

"It will be followed by a session that will bring together delegations from the two countries," read a statement from the office of the Congolese President-Palace de la nation.

"President Ruto is working to bring the DRC and Kenya closer together and has pledged to support the pacification of eastern DRC."

The visit by the president comes at a time Kenya has sent a contingent of KDF troops to the war-torn state to help in the peace process.

It also comes just a week after his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta's tour.

Ruto will later jet out to Korea for a three-day working visit.
