National Transport Safety Authority on Sunday celebrated World Day of Remembrance of road crash victims at Milimani law courts.
Police officers and the public lit candles to remember the victims.
People gave testimonies of their experiences with road accidents.
High court Judge Justice Richard Mwongo, NTSA board chairperson Agnes Odhiambo, traffic commandant Mary Omari who represented IG Japhet Koome and Victor Mule from the office of the deputy director of public prosecutions were present.
According to a report by United Nations, The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims puts the spotlight on justice.
"Traffic law enforcement, thorough investigation after a crash to find out if a crime was committed and to prevent a recurrence," read the report.
"Criminal prosecution where appropriate and civil compensation are all part of the justice system."
The report said the objectives of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims are to provide a platform for road traffic victims and their families to remember all people killed and seriously injured on the roads.
To acknowledge the crucial work of the emergency services, to draw attention to the generally trivial legal response to culpable road deaths and injuries and advocate for better support for road traffic victims and victim families.
