Be ready to support upcoming laws needed to implement our manifesto -Ruto

The Kenya Kwanza MPs have been urged to prioritise upcoming legislation needed to implement the Kenya Kwanza manifesto.

President William Ruto on Wednesday told the legislators that the policies will soon be coming to the National Assembly for consideration.

"We have a raft of legislations that we need to pass to enable us to implement some of the pledges we made during the campaign," he said.

"They will be coming to the house very soon and I ask you to prioritise them."

Under agriculture and food security, he pledged an investment of at least Sh250 billion in five years effective 2023 and transform two million poor farmers from food deficit to surplus producers.

For Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise, the government will annually  provide Sh50 billion to MSMEs with reliable access to credit and provide one street trading premise for every 50 urban residents

Under infrastructure, Ruto pledged to complete all roads under construction including the construction of a 700km road along the Isiolo-Kula, Mawe-Modogashe-Samatar-Wajir-Kutulo-Elwak-Ramu corridor.

For ICT and creative economy, Kenya Kwanza pledged to construct a 100,000-kilometer fibre optic connectivity network, and roll out fibre to counties, villages, schools, and over 24,000 businesses and homes.

They pledged to establish Africa Regional Hub and promote the development of Software for export.

Ruto also promised to set up 250,000 affordable houses annually through a public-private partnership, grow the number of mortgages to one million and provide a settlement fund to acquire land and resettle up to one million landless families.
