Kisumu assembly to vet Nyongo's nominee next week

The vetting will be done at the county assembly chambers.

Kisumu county assembly will now vet Governor Anyang Nyongo's nominees for the executive position next week.

The vetting will be done at the county assembly chambers.

This is after a petition challenging the nomination and vetting of the officers filed in a Kisumu court was withdrawn.

Already, the county assembly has set dates for the vetting of the executive officers after having received the list of nominees from the governor.

The nominees are Greg Ganda (medical services, public health and sanitation), George Omondi Okong’o (finance, economic planning, ICT and e-governance services), Kennedy Hongo (lands, physical planning housing and urban development) and Salmon Orimba (infrastructure, energy and public works).

John Awiti (education, technical training innovation and social services), Ken Onyango (agriculture, fisheries, livestock development and irrigation) and Farida Salim (trade, tourism, industry and marketing).

Others are Former nominated MCA Beatrice Odongo ( Sports, Culture, Gender and Youth Affairs), Judith Oluoch ( Public Service, County Administration and Participatory Development, Office of the Governor) and Maryline Yanza Agwa Water, Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change.

According to the county assembly clerk Owen Ojuok in an advert to the local dailies, the officers will be vetted for a period of two days, from 21st November to 22nd November 2022.

On 21st, a total of five nominees will be vetted while the remaining five will e vetted on the second day.

Owen said, "The Nominees are hereby invited to appear before the County Assembly Committee on Appointment at the venue, date and time indicated above.".

He added:

"The Nominees are advised to collect a questionnaire from the office of the clerk of the county assembly during official working hours and are required to return 14 copies of the filled questionnaire to the same office at the County Assembly Building next to Kisumu Regional Police Headquarters (Central Police Station) not later than 17th November 2022 at 4.00 pm."
