Man stabbed to death at Kitengela bar

Police sources says deceased was attacked by the proprietor of the bar

Directorate of Criminal Investigations detectives are investigating an incident where a man was allegedly stabbed to death at a bar in Kitengela, Kajiado county.

Hussein Fuad Abdow, 26, was pronounced dead on arrival at Kitengela Level 4 subcounty hospital where he had been rushed after the 7.10pm Wednesday incident.

Police sources told the Star that Abdow was attacked by the proprietor of the bar located at Kitengela’s G26 area. It’s said to be a recipe of love triangle.

“The suspect has a bar in Kitengela where he had hired a woman of Ethiopian origin as waitress," an officer privy to the incident said on Thursday.

"It’s believed that the deceased used to visit the woman at the bar, her place of work, but the employer wasn’t happy.”

He said the deceased had been warned severally about seeing the woman but he didn’t listen.

“The deceased yesterday visited the bar but found the man. According to the witness a confrontation ensured between the two leading to the deceased being stabbed using a knife,” police said.

Abdow who according to police sources lived in Sabaki, Machakos county was in the company of a friend during the incident. The friend is among the witnesses in the case.

He was rushed to the hospital by revealers. A medic at the hospital informed officers from Kitengela police station about his demise.

Senior police officers at the station rushed to the hospital and established that the deceased had a single stab wound on the back right hand side.

Police said the suspect immediately closed down the bar and fled the scene.

“The suspect is at large. He escaped before the deceased was rushed to hospital,” a detective said.

He said the suspect was being pursued and it was just a matter of time before his arrest.

The suspect according to other sources is married and has a young family.

Senior police officers on Thursday visited Kitengela police station over the incident.

However, police sources said crime rate in the town had dropped after several gangsters were arrested and arraigned in court.

Nine suspected thugs linked to several criminal activities in Kitengela and its environs were recently arrested and arraigned in the high court in Kajiado. They have since been remanded.

Several stolen items were recovered from the suspects have been positively identified by respective complainants.
