SA officials visit EACC to benchmark on lifestyle audits

They also sought guidance on forfeiture of unexplained wealth

Officials from the Office of the President of South Africa on Wednesday visited EACC offices to benchmark lifestyle audit strategies and forfeiture of unexplained wealth.  

The officials are part of President Cyril Ramaphosa's entourage to Kenya during his two-day state visit to the country. 

"The visiting delegation was benchmarking on key strategies for conducting lifestyle audits and forfeiture of unexplained wealth," EACC said in a statement.

"South Africa and Kenya exchanged experiences and best practices in fighting and preventing corruption across the region."

The officials were led by the Director General and Secretary of Cabinet Phindile Baleni. 

The team was received by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission deputy CEO Abdi Mohamud. 

On Wednesday, President William Ruto said Kenyans holding ordinary passports will enjoy 90-day visa-free visits to South Africa every year.

He said the deal was arrived at during bilateral talks with Ramaphosa at State House, Nairobi. 

The visa-free visits will begin on January 1, 2023.
