Inspector General of Police nominee Japhet Koome has described his nomination as a morale booster to fellow officers joining the service at the lowest ranks.
The former Commandant at Police Training School, Kiganjo, said his nomination gives hope to junior officers of scaling the ranks to head the service.
“Fellow officers are excited about this nomination because one of their own who joined as a constable is now being vetted as Inspector General,” Koome said.
“A constable in Marsabit is hopeful of becoming an Inspector General.”
Koome is appearing before the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Administration and Internal Affairs and the Senate Standing Committee on National Security, Defense, and Foreign Affairs at Parliament Buildings.
The National Assembly Internal Affairs committee is chaired by Narok West MP Gabriel Togoyo while Baringo Senator William Cheptumo chairs the Senate Security committee.
