Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance spokesperson Makau Mutua now wants Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen to give further directions, after making public the SGR contract.

Makau questioned what the next course of action would be, now that the contract is out in the public.

He insisted that the Cabinet Secretary should announce the next course of action, adding that it could also be a plot to distract Kenyans from real issues.

"Yes — I must see all SGR contract(s). But what next? Renegotiate them? Repossess/reject the “collaterals”? Or is it just hot air to distract Kenyans? Who was uber DP, Treasury CS, and Senate Majority Leader when SGR contracts were signed? I smell a rat. Say more, or stop PR," he said on Monday.

On Sunday, Murkomen announced that he had found the document that was hidden from the public by the retired President Uhuru Kenyatta-led administration and had handed it to the National Assembly and the Senate.

"As promised I have released the standard gauge railway agreements to the people of Kenya. I have given a copy to the majority leaders Kimani Ichungwa and Aaron Cheruiyot," he said.

The CS said the Standard Gauge Railway contracts will be tabled in the respective Houses of Parliament. He also shared a copy with the media.

When he appeared for vetting, Murkomen vowed to make public details of the contract, which he said has remained opaque.

This is despite Kenyans pushing to know whether the Kenya Ports Authority was used to guarantee the loans from the Chinese government.

SGR cost is said to have hit Sh670 billion.

During  a recent TV interview, the CS said he was inching closer to locating the contract.
