American Comedian Kathy Griffin has been permanently suspended from using Twitter for impersonating Twitter boss Elon Musk.

Elon Musk announced that any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying they are a parody account, will be permanently suspended.

“Previously, we issued a warning before the suspension, but now that we are rolling out widespread verification, there will be no warnings,” he said.

He said parodies must indicate that they are a “parody” of an original account.

Griffin’s verified account of two million followers had not indicated so.

Musk said this will be identified as a condition for signing up on Twitter Blue.

“Any name change at all will cause temporary loss of verified checkmark,” he warned.

The comedian went on to create a Mastodon account after the suspension, calling out Musk for his hands-on approach.

“Elon Musk just locked my Twitter account. I guess not all the content moderators were let go. He’s such as drama queen,” she said.

Griffin also resorted to using her deceased mother's Twitter account @TipItMaggieG to tweet the hashtag #freekathy.

Musk retaliated by mocking Griffin’s comedic career, saying she was suspended for impersonating a comedian.

"But if she really wants her account back she can have it," he said.

He has been on the clock lately, working on new strategies to transform the social media platform into what he describes as the most transparent platform in terms of information sourcing.
