The striking Kenya Airways pilots have defied orders to resume work instead issued a raft of demands to be met.

In a letter, the pilots through the Kenya Airline Pilots Association are demanding for the immediate reinstatement of four members and the resumption of their provident fund.

They say the members were victimised and wrongly sacked.

The four officials, they said, were harassed and unfairly dismissed.

"The members were wrongfully terminated from employment and must be reinstated immediately," the letter signed by the union's general secretary Murithi Nyagah read.

It adds, "Going forward all disciplinary processes shall be chaired by a mutually agreed neutral party. This includes ongoing disciplinary proceedings."

In what they termed as irreducible minimums, employees also want the company to adhere to all the signed agreements.

They have also named six key officials, whom they say, must exit the company for being behind their woes.

The officials led by director of operations Paul Njoroge and chief operations manager Grace Wamiti are said to have engaged in an illegality occasioning safety concerns and putting their air operation certificates at risk.

"With these very reasonable proposals and the willingness exhibited by the association to resolve the outstanding matters, it is imperative that Kenya Airways show good faith to avert this strike," the letter states.
