President William Ruto's administration has made radical changes to the Kenyatta University Council, reinstating ousted chairman Shem Migot.
On Friday, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu kicked out professor Chrispus Kiamba who was appointed by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta's government.
He had been gazetted by ex-Education CS George Magoha.
Kiamba took charge at KU council at the height of the land tussle between the university and the national government.
It was Kiamba's led council that ejected vice-chancellor Paul Wainana following his objection to the government's plans to subdivide parts of the university land.
Hours after Wainaina was reinstated as KU vice-chancellor, Machogu ousted Kiamba and gazetted Eric Kindon Sila and Mary Mugo as new council members.
The new council will serve for a period of one year with effect from November 4.
Also revoked alongside Kiamba was the appointment of Jane Wamoko and Carilus Odero Odumbe as council members by Uhuru's regime.
"The Cabinet Secretary for Education appoints—Shem Migot -Adholla — Chairperson, Members:Eric Kindon Sila,Mary Mugo as the chairperson and members of the Council of Kenyatta University fora period of one (1) year with effect from 4th November, 2022," read part of the gazette.
