Wamatangi to give Kiambu ECDE pupils free meals

His administration will build 400 modern ECDE classes across the county.

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi will launch a free feeding programme for all ECDE children in the county.

In addition, he said he will build 400 classes to ensure that all children enjoy quality education.

He said he will strike a working formula with elected leaders for all students in future to be incorporated into the free feeding programme. He spoke during Mashujaa Day celebrations at Kirigiti stadium.

"I will enroll to a feeding programme all students in the county and I will work with elected leaders, "Wamatangi said.

He urged leaders to shun political differences and work together.

He said that by doing so, they will be in a position to fight corruption and ensure proper service delivery.

He said he has already established a clear framework to bring services closer to the people.

Once the county combats corruption, his administration will be in a position to equip hospitals with medicines and ensure proper education infrastructure.

Governor Wamatangi threatened to close pharmacies located near public hospitals.

He said corrupt medics direct patients to their clinics while also selling government medicine to their facilities 

Wamatangi revealed the county has been spending about Sh40 million to hire Red Cross ambulances.

The previous administration of James Nyoro had a leasing deal for the ambulances. Wamatangi said he will terminate the contract and acquire new ambulances for the people of Kiambu.

"We will streamline service delivery in Kiambu and use all the means to fight corruption," he said.

Senator Karungo Thangw'a said the Kenya Kwanza administration of President William Ruto will work hard to ensure the promises made have been fulfilled.

He promised to work closely with the national government to push for the welfare of the people of Kiambu .

"I will work with the governor and at the same time play my oversight role as stipulated by the constitution," he said.

County commissioner Joshua Nkanatha assured locals of security.

He said they will not relent until law and order are maintained.
