Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage Cabinet secretary nominee Peninah Malonza on Wednesday said she has a plan on how she will attract more tourists to Kenya.

She told the vetting panel at County Hall in Nairobi that her plan includes focusing more on Kenya's traditional tourism markets.

"I will specifically be picking on five high value and contacting through our vehicle that we call Magical Kenya, promotion trade fairs and end to end marketing with them," she said.

She was responding to a question posed by Deputy Speaker Gladys Shollei on her plans to increase foreign revenue in the ministry if approved.

Malonza told the National Assembly Committee on Appointments that the number of tourists does not, however, matter much if their value is not tangible and as such, she will seek to achieve a balance between the variables.

"I will not only want to look at the issue of numbers because we can have numbers but if it's not bringing value to this nation, I will  re-look our revenue collection modalities," she said.

Malonza said one of her key strengths is automation and she would  automate Kenya's systems so that the country can even have E-ticketing for tourists as well as electronic revenue collection.

She revealed to the committee that her net worth stands at Sh300 million, a huge chunk of it being in form of land in various parts of the country.
