Lawyer Miguna Miguna has called out Members of Parliament who are vetting Cabinet secretary nominees.

According to Miguna he has not seen any critical examination of the five nominees vetted so far, by the National Assembly Committee on appointments.

He added that what has happened so far are soundbites intended to please their masters.

"What Members of Parliament are engaged in is not vetting. I've not seen any careful and critical examination of any of the Cabinet Secretary nominees. All I see and hear are soundbites intended to please the run-away conman. Please, MPs, raise your standards of interrogation," he said on Tuesday.

His remarks come after parliament vetted the first batch of five Cabinet nominees by President William Ruto.

They include Musalia Mudavadi (Prime Cabinet Secretary), Justin Muturi (Attorney general), Aden Duale (Defence), Alfred Mutua (Foreign and Diaspora affairs) and Alice Wahome (Water, Sanitation and Irrigation).

The five nominees who faced the 15-member panel on Monday disclosed various details about their professional and personal lives, as well as net worth.

They also explained how they would deal with pertinent issues affecting their various dockets.

On Tuesday, the second batch of the 24 cabinet nominees will face the vetting panel. They include; Kithure Kindiki (Interior and National Administration), Njuguna Ndung'u (National Treasury and Planning), Aisha Jumwa (Public Service, Gender and Affirmative action), Davis Chirchir (Energy and Petroleum) and Moses Kuria (Trade, Investment and Industry).
