He had been charged with possessing 34 kilograms of elephant tusks worth Sh3.4 million on August 25, 2017.

The charge sheet said he was arrested at Transami bus stage in Imara Daima within Nairobi county for attempting to kill Joyce Chepkirui.

Chepkirui told the court that the accused person shot her and she was admitted at the KNH in a critical condition.

"As I was trying to push him away from the car, he managed to snatch my pistol and shot me, I fell on the ground," she said.

She also testified in court that on August 27, she found herself at the Nairobi hospital ICU after regaining consciousness.

The officers also testified in court on how the intelligence report led to the arrest of the accused person alongside the said elephant tusks.
