Ahmednasir: Why every Kenyan President needs a Library

Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has said that he will propose a petition to establish a presidential library for every president in Kenya.

The lawyer said he will petition President William Ruto to enact the legislation to that effect.

Ahmednasir added that the libraries will be named after the president and built in a town of his choice.

Ina statement on Monday, Ahmednasir said that the library should be used to store documents and records of the president during his tenure as head of state.

"I will petition President William Ruto to enact legislation that establish a Presidential library for every president of Kenya," Ahmednasir tweeted.

"The libraries will be named after a given president and built in a town of his choice. It will house documents relating to his tenure, history, records." 

Presidential libraries are repositories for preserving and making available the papers, records, collections and other historical materials of every president.

Kenya has no specific library for each president, save for independent president Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.

Information about the past presidents have largely been kept in the Presidential Libraries and Museums, Kenya.
