Another health worker has succumbed to the Ebola disease in Uganda after she contracted the virus.
The country's Health Minister Jane Ruth Ocero made the announcement on Wednesday in a statement on Twitter.
"I regret to announce the passing of another Health worker, Ms. Nabisubi Margaret, an anesthetic officer. The 58 year old succumbed to Ebola at 4.33am this morning at Fort Portal Hospital (JMedic) after battling the disease for 17 days," she tweeted.
He is the fourth doctor to die from the disease.
"The late Margaret is the 4th health worker we have lost in the current Ebola outbreak after the probable case of the midwife, Dr. Ali and the health assistant in Kagadi District. May their souls rest in eternal peace."
On Saturday, Ocero announced the death of a Tanzanian doctor who was studying in Uganda. He said he was the first doctor to die from the disease.
"I regret to announce that we have lost our first doctor, Dr Mohammed Ali, a Tanzanian National, 37-year-old old male today at 3:15 am," she wrote.
Ocero said the doctor died while receiving treatment.
"He tested positive for Ebola on September 26, 2022, and died while receiving treatment at Fort Portal RRH, Isolation facility (JMedic)."
The Uganda Ebola outbreak is an ongoing outbreak of the Sudan strain which has hit Western Region and Central Region of Uganda.
Health officials said the death toll has reached 23 with a total of 50 of confirmed and suspected cases.
