President William Ruto on Tuesday proposed names of people who will serve in his administration as Cabinet secretaries.
The unveiling of the cabinet came shortly after he held his inaugural cabinet meeting with former cabinet secretaries who served under former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Two of the people proposed have active court cases; Aisha Jumwa and Mithiki Linturi.
In April 2022, two cases linked to Jumwa were pushed to August and September.
Jumwa is facing a murder charge and a Sh19 million graft case.
She said the two cases are politically instigated.
Danstan Omari, Jumwa’s lawyer, applied to have the case begin afresh after trial magistrate Edna Nyaloti was transferred to Nakuru law court.
The matter is now being handled by Mombasa chief magistrate Martha Mutuku, who allowed the application to have the case begin afresh from August 15 through to August 17.
Linturi on the other hand is accused that on January 30,2021, at around 3am at Maiyan Villa’s hotel in Nanyuki, he intentionally and unlawfully attempted to rape a 36-old-woman.
Linturi asked a Nairobi court to terminate the case in which he is accused of attempted rape of a woman.
Linturi said prosecution has failed to supply him with crucial evidence.
In his submissions, the senator, through his lawyer Muthomi Thiankolu, told Milimani chief magistrate Susan Shitubi that the prosecution has not supplied him with nude photographs and video taken at the scene of the alleged sexual crime.
The lead investigator in Linturi's attempted rape case testified police investigated claims that nude photos and videos were destroyed.
Linturi was charged with attempted rape.
It is alleged he entered the victim’s hotel room and attempted to rape her while her husband was gone.
