President William Ruto has pledged Kenya's continued participation in supporting IGAD's prosperity in the region.
Ruto commended the Intergovernmental Authority on Development's dedication to a resilient and integrated Africa in a meeting with the body's Executive Secretary Workneh Gebeyehu.
"Kenya pledges its support to IGAD for sustained peace and prosperity in the bloc," Ruto said.
Gebeyehu briefed Ruto on peace, security and humanitarian issues as he welcomed his leadership role in the region.
"H.E Ruto reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to support IGAD regional stabilisation efforts for greater solidarity and prosperity," Gebeyehu said.
They met on the sidelines of the 77th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
President Ruto also held discussions with the World Health Organisation Director General Tedros Ghebreyesus over universal healthcare.
Ruto said Kenya will partner with the WHO to ensure that the country secures the health and well-being of all its citizens through universal healthcare.
Ghebreyesus said that he is looking forward to continued partnership to deliver health for all in Kenya.
"I look forward to continuing Kenya and WHO partnership to respond more efficiently to emergencies in Africa via the new logistics hub in. We agreed on the importance of developing a pandemic accord," the WHO boss affirmed.
