A man who allegedly raped a woman in Dagoretti was on Friday charged with the offence at a Kibera court.

AP was charged before senior principal magistrate Phillip Mutua but he denied the charges.

The court heard that on August 5 at Gachui centre in Dagoreti subcounty, Nairobi county, AP raped SQ .

AP was also charged with the second count of committing an indecent act with an adult contrary to the Sexual Offences Act.

The accused person also denied two other offences of maliciously damaging shop items valued at Sh200,000 and creating disturbance with the aim of breaching peace.

The court was told he breached the peace by threatening to kill the complainant unless she leaves Gachui area.

AP committed the first offence of rape moments after the complainant left her shop and was heading home.

The accused person approached her and asked her why she had been selling bhang without his knowledge.

The accused person then pretended to give the complainant company home but then dragged her to a nearby bush and raped her.

The man denied the charges and was released on Sh500,000 bond with the surety of the same amount.

The case will be brought before again in late September for a pre-trail.
